From 29 to 31 October, the CARMA took part in the Stakeholder Assembly on the Future of Security Research (SSRR 2025), held in Brussels. This key European event brought together policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and industry representatives to discuss the future directions of security research and innovation in Europe.
The discussions throughout the assembly highlighted the critical role of collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing in strengthening Europe’s safety, security, and resilience. These values are fully aligned with the objectives of CARMA, which aims to bridge research, technology development, and operational needs in the field of disaster and crisis management.
CARMA was actively represented by several consortium partners who contributed to high-level exchanges and thematic sessions:
- Ivana Kruijff-Korbayova (DRZ) participated as a programme committee member and moderated the session “From Policy to Practice: European Innovation and International Collaboration for Safety & Security”, facilitating dialogue between policy, research, and operational stakeholders.
- Harris Georgiou (Hellenic Rescue Team of Attica) joined the panel “Technological gaps and advancements in Search and Rescue operations: From R&D to real-world missions”, sharing valuable insights drawn from both research activities and hands-on operational experience.

These contributions illustrate CARMA’s strong commitment to connecting European research, technological innovation, and field deployment, and to reinforcing Europe’s capacity for coordinated, data-driven, and resilient crisis response systems.
